Secret Bars in London

​Hidden away from the tourist traps and chain restaurants, London’s underground scene has undergone a transformation in recent years.  A whole host of secret bars have opened from Earl’s Courts Evan’s a Peel’s Detective Agency where guests must report a fictional crime scene in order to gain entry to the Marriott Grosvenor Square’s transformed ‘Luggage room’.

The Experimental Cocktail Club

13A Gerrard Street, W1D 5PS

Located in a town house on Chinatowns Gerrard Street, the Experimental Cocktail Club offers some of the best drinks in town. It is arranged over three extravagantly decorated floors with exposed brickwork and subtle lighting.

Chelsea Prayer Room

333 Fulham Road, Chelsea, SW10 9QL

One of the newest and most exclusive secret bars in London, the Chelsea Prayer Room is tucked away in the basement of The Goat pub on Fulham Road. The invitation only bar is full of 1920's decor from the decade of American decadence.

Barts Bar

87 Sloane Ave, SW3 3DW

Hidden away in the Chelsea Cloisters, just off Sloane Street, Barts’ is a popular speakeasy amongst the local Chelsea crowd. The bar is entered through the lobby of an old fashioned residential block, there guests must find an inconspicuous black door and ring the doorbell to see if they will be let in. Inside the bar is full to the brim of quirky and eccentric decorations.

The Luggage Room

Marriott Grosvenor Square, W1K 6JP

This summer the Marriot Grosvenor Square hotel converted its old luggage room to a secret 1930's cocktail bar. Guests must enter by knocking on a small unmarked door to the left of the hotels main entrance. The bar is a beautiful reflection of Art Deco design and opulence with lashings of chrome accents and leather.

Evans and Peel Detective Agency

310c Earl's Court Rd, SW5 9AQ

One of the most underground bars in London is the Evans and Peel Detective agency in Earls Court. Guest enter by ringing an unassuming door on a residential street, to which a detective answers by asking 'What is your case?' Guest must then go down into an interrogation room to unravel their story before finally entering the bar by going through a bookcase.
